Brief: To design a stimulating contemporary office environment to support a diverse range of requirements.

Our design approach aimed to create a dynamic, flexible and responsive space that catered for the specific and varied needs of this progressive development company.

Taking inspiration from the master-plan of a city, we conceived a space that operates on multiple levels, introducing curves to encourage circulation flow and clear sight lines that offer views at different heights to keep people connected to the wider environment and those around them.

Steel structures, inspired by life-guard towers punctuate the desk areas, providing multi-tiered meeting spaces  – the upper platform affording a view over the office and the lower one screened for privacy. Elevated interior platforms maximise the floor space and make visual reference to the buildings’ history as a postal sorting office. A vibrant spectrum of colour brings vitality into the interior and marks this out as an innovative working environment.

A family of engaging objects distributed throughout the office, are intended to encourage un-restricted behaviour and stimulate creative exchange. A soft, colourful open ‘piazza’ offers an enticing space to relax and recharge while a vibrant standing meeting enclosure – made of pink hair – sparks conversation. Those who choose to comb it find it happily therapeutic.
