Design Museum, Space

October 2004

The concept for the Talks Space is a perfectly-blue, calm, swimming pool-like space that dynamically compliments the external view of the River Thames: creating a feeling that the Talks Space is an actual extension of the river itself.

With this concept, the floor feels like one continual plane throughout the whole space (including the WC and kitchen) and even out to the terrace. This effect was best created by using a pale blue, poured resin, rubber flooring. The main existing perimeter walls are painted white.

The space can be split in several different ways. There are fixing mechanisms allowing for lightweight partition screens to be hung in several locations for separating into smaller spaces. This can also ennable a reception area if required.
